  • Rockstar United ROCKED!!!

    Monday, Feb 9, 2009 11:20PM / Standard Entry

FBI were invited back to The Vine to rock out with all of the kids from Flight 852 and their friends. It went off! There must have been over 130 people there or more.

The atmosphere was at a high after the crowd was warmed up by the other bands: Illegal Immigrants, Summer Junkiez and Fall in Line. It has always been great playing for this crowd because they totally go out of control, in a good way. Tonight did not disappoint either.

Not only was there a decent crowd there, but they were moshing, headbanging and jumping around as if there was no tomorrow. You can see the pandemonium in the clips below.

We were told that this was our most active performance in a long time, which is saying something. We really drew energy from these guys and spat it back at them in the form of solid rock!

Unfortunately the video camera's battery died before the end of the show, so we only have these six songs to show you. Though we played an epic set of 9 songs which went on for over 40mins... totally killing the crowd with our energy.

    Man Love!

You got to love the crowd participation in this song. They all echoed the chorus 'Save me' loud and clear. Awesome!

    Don't Quit Your Day Job

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkHaXoDAp0s&feature=channel_page

    The Masquerade

The crowd were eager to hear this song so they could jump, mosh and do all kinds of crazy sh*t! I go crazy too, I jump into the crowd to mosh with them. They don't want to let me get back on the stage. haha!

    Last Resort (Papa Roach Cover)

See the kids go crazy in this song when they realise we are doing a cover of Papa Roach. They sing along to all of the words.

    Gonna Make Love

One of the boys gets on the stage and starts gyrating his pelvis, much to the organiser's disdain. I had to think, is he trying to copy me?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e53WvTSyh1Y&feature=channel_page

    Haunted

I tell them that this is a slow song and that they should find a partner to hold, then I go crazy at the end and jump in the crowd to mosh with them once again. This time they are too tired to hold me back.

  • FBI helps to judge the Voize Independent Music Awards

    Sunday, Jan 25, 2009 5:47PM / Standard Entry

    VIMA

FBI were invited to judge the Voize Independent Music Awards (VIMA) for the  Malaysian Rock scene, that was held on the 17th of January 2009. All of us guys have been pretty busy this month doing our own things, but Archvictor and myself found some time to listen to what Malaysia had to offer in the way of Rock music. There was so much competition and we got to hear some great songs coming out of the region.

Over 50 judges from around the globe participated in this event, including us two. You can go here to see the full list of judges:- http://www.voize.my/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2186:come-meet-the-judges-of-vima&catid=109:vima-2008&Itemid=126

The competition was run by Voize, an online independent music magazine based in Malaysia. They will also be holding the Asian Voize Indepedent Music Awards (AVIMA) in March of this year, and we been invited to enter the competition for best rock group in Asia. (fingers crossed!)

The best rock song went to Estranged for their song, 'The Slave In Us'. Personally, this was my favourite song so I am very glad that it won.

  • Underground reviews our EP

    Monday, Jan 19, 2009 12:51AM / Standard Entry

    Hi all,

The great feedback from fans and listeners keeps on coming in, especially with the latest review given by Bun from the Underground website. Bun really talks us up big and makes me feel glad to be a member of FBI. I am really happy that we can have this effect on people. I love how he comments on us not only having a great CD, but that it reflects our great live performances. You know we try to give you everything we've got everytime you see us, and more. Have a look below to see the article he has written about us.

In other news, we are taking a break from shows until we go back to The Vine for an all ages gig on the 6th of February. But, we are not sure when we will have the next +18 show (at a bar) in Hong Kong, because we want to try and create a few more new songs before we start gigging properly in 2009. One thing I would like to know is this: Are you sick of hearing the same old songs? Do you want to hear some new songs? What songs can't you get enough of (that you want to hear more)?

We will make sure next time we play for you that we play all of your favourites, plus some new numbers which I can tell you right now, are going to be just as good, or even better than our last set.

Some exciting news is that there has been talk about us going to the Macau Underground at the end of February and even talks of us flying to Singapore in April to be part of a festival. But nothing is confirmed as yet. When it is all confirmed you can be assured that we will keep you in the loop.

For now, enjoy the review below:-

    Peace

    Cain

    > Fire Bird International EP - F.B.I.

    FBIcdcover.jpg

Hard-working F.B.I. is a local favourite. They don’t seem to lack performance invitations. On an average month you can catch them in three or four separate shows. And Cain, lead vocals, never lets up on his delivery, unless he is either very sick, or lost his voice completely. So, after more than a year of playing together, they have put out an EP of six songs. Not tired of giving more, they also included two bonus tracks, which were previously published in Underground’s compilation double-CD “Something Alternative”.  The EP was recorded at K-Town Studios, which is closely associated with Soler, the brothers duo. Still, it maintains all the necessary independent components. The production is “directed” by F.B.I. themselves, and the EP release is self-published, even though we’re reaching a stage where there are no shortage of indie labels in Hong Kong. It’s important to also point out that Soler made friends with them first, which led to this production benefit.

F.B.I. is a live band first and foremost; they wear matching T-shirts, and both guitarist Archvictor and bassist Jerald print “F.B.I.” boldly on their guitar straps; all four of them have incredible stage presence; they communicate endlessly with the audience; some of the members stare constantly at their girlfriends. Still, the EP captures their live essence successfully, whereas some bands can lose their power when recorded. Put it this way, play their EP at a party, and you don’t have to worry that you can’t put a live band in your living room for your own anniversary party (whatever it is you want to celebrate).

And true to the party spirit, the EP plays like a good party. It starts with the hit “Man Love! (not in a gay way)“, moves onto the adrenaline pumping metal number “The Masquerade“, then, yeah, yeah, a breather and time to look into a gal’s eyes, a ballad of all ballads “Loneliness“, and, afterwards, sure, we’re “Gonna Make Love“, which features Chris B in a play even her husband probably would envy. Cain shows us some more loving through “Haunted“, and the main portion of the EP ends with “Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts“, an energy-lifting graveyard rocker. Two bonus tracks “Man Love!” and “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” completes the CD. A friend said, “Listening to F.B.I. is like listening to a mixed tape.” Now you should understand.

In an interview (probably in all their interviews), F.B.I. explained that their strength is in four guys bringing along their stuff and everyone contributing to make that into a collection of great pop tunes. In fact, the EP itself should serve as an invitation to their live shows, where you could hear even more musical styles they have not included (like - rap?), and experience their incessant love for cover songs. And have I mentioned the incredible live performances? Not just one guy. All four of them.

  • Choochoo TV interview- Band Cult Episode 8

    Friday, Dec 19, 2008 11:51AM / Standard Entry

Two weeks ago we visited the guys at Choochoo TV and we had lots of fun sitting around and talking with them. They have a show on there called "Band Cult" and we have been lucky enought to be featured on their site. Here is the link.... I think it is pretty funny and definately worth watching. Though, it is mostly in Chinese.

  • EP on sale at alivenotdead's online store + listen to FBI rap

    Thursday, Dec 11, 2008 10:39PM / Standard Entry

For all of our fans overseas who have been waiting to get your hands on our EP. Well, here it is. It is now available on alivenotdead's online store. There may be a few bugs to be creased out before you can actually get it, but you may be able to see the new PRODUCT tab featured on our website.

I am so excited about this. I can't see all the track samples up there just right now, but I am sure they will be coming. Anyway, if you want to listen to the first three songs off the EP you just need to click the music player located on the right hand side of the screen. Though, the songs have been mixed and and mastered and sound a whole lot better thanks to Daniele Bao, our sound technician. Can I call him that?

In other news, we have recorded another song from the band room just to make a few people happy. We usually perform our FBI Theme song, so to speak, at the end of our shows. But, we failed to put it on the EP. But, we are having talks with our producer, Peter Gorton, about recording this song early next year for all of you guys and girls.

There may be a chance that we can collaborate with Quan from REGURGIGATOR, a famous Australian band. But, we will see whether or not he is willing to work with us on this. So, we have sent him and Peter this demo. We want some kind of scraching and some computer sounds that will really fill the void and believe that with these two we can get the sound we desire. For now we only have what we have got from the band room. But I hope you enjoy it. Go to mp3.com.hk to listen to this song.

See you at BACKSTAGE... no Xmas songs, but I will sing two Chinese songs. FBI will play first, so don't be late. Meg will finish off the night with some softer numbers.

    Hope to see you there

    Cain

    F.B.I.
