"Mulan" (花木蘭)

Recently, I watched " Mulan"  ( NOT the Disney version - this live action movie was a LOT more somber, although I can't believe the guys in the movie didn't know Mulan is a woman - actress Zhao Wei ( 趙薇) looks and sounds quite feminine to me). Same with her character in "Red Cliff 2" - sh...Read more

The Message (风声)

I recently watched the 2009 Chinese movie, " The Message" a movie from a novel about some Chinese rebels against the puppet government placed by the Japanese during 1942. A group of 5 Chinese are captured and one of them is an undercover spy. They are held until either they admit/ confess who is the rebel or until their...captors figure out who is the mole.
I agree with the favorable revie...Read more

10 Promises to My Dog (犬と私の10の約束 プレミアム)

If there's one thing I have learned recently, is that Japanese dog movies are REALLY sad!!!  (maybe it's because they have respect of the famous Japanese dog, Hachikō (ハチ公)?)

Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dre2zLuCnHc It started when I watched " Quill" (クイール, kuīru) a Japanese  film structured like a documentary of a guide dog, first relea...Read more

Continuing on what favorite HK movies that I'm lending out to my friends:

This week, I lent out My Left Eye Sees Ghosts (我左眼見到鬼) and Ip Man (葉問).

Hua Mulan (花木蘭)

I'm looking forward to seeing the live-action Hua Mulan (花木蘭) movie.  It'll probably be on DVD before it arrives here in the USA.

Anyway, there are two music videos for the movie by two of my favorite singers.

Yao Ming to quell China's appetite for shark fin

Even Yao Ming asks people not to order shark fin soup (it is rather cruel / fatal to the sharks) - I wonder why there aren't any shark farms in the world?  People raise salmon on farms, can't someone make a larger scale farm for sharks?

More acid being thrown at people in Hong Kong...

有人在香港仍是扔在人酸!  ( someone is still throwing acid at people in Hong Kong!).

This time it was in Causeway Bay (another part of Hong Kong that I love to visit, especially the Times Square Shopping Mall).  I hope my Hong Kong friends will be safe and that the police there can catch the person(s) responsible.

On to other news....

I've started watching the Japanese drama, Read more
