The Magic Kings

This celebration itself originates from the New Testament story in which the kings Melchor, Gaspar, and Balthasar and their camels, all of them guided by a star, travelled 2009 years ago to Middle East to Jerusalem by night to bring gifts to Jesus, to adore him and celebrate his born.
On January 5th, there are parades all around Spain...it's the arrival of the Kings!!! Children go to parades to see how they arrive, while the Kings distribute candies to everyone. At night, the Kings bring a lot of gifts to children and all family members....children left a pair of shoes on the window to receive more candies, and 3 gots of milk, cookies and other sweets for the Kings...and water for their camels because they have to work all night long and children have go to bed so early to wait their gifts. The morning of January 6th is very special...all children wake up so early and run to see their gifts (obviously bought by their parents...but they don't know it...it's the most magical feeling of this celebration).
Parents make a big effort to make belive their children that the Kings really exist, and see this innocense in them and how they are very nervious waiting their gifts is really cute. Theoretically if the behaviour of the child is bad during the year, they have to recive coal, but it never happens and the child recieve a big mountain of gifts.
For children it is the best party of the year, they write a letter to the Kings making clear that they have been good childs and what they want to recieve. This party has many centuries in Spain, it's more ancient than the North American invention of Santa Klaus, and of course, WE PREFER IT!!!.
But it's not only a party for kids, even they are the true protagonists...no matter if you are an adult...Parents still giving you many gifts and you do the same with parents, friends, grandparents, uncles, cousins...It's a party full of hopes, happines and familiar love.
That day you eat the famous KINGS CAKE, a round sponge cake with candied fruit that takes inside a king, a bean and some small toys. Nobody knows where those things are... the one who receives the King puts on the wreath, who recive the bean must pay the cake, and the small toys are for the children.
