I received the following e-mail from a friend; it shocked me to say the least.
Recently, British Royal Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops there.
Starbucks replied, telling the Royal Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it,and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee.
So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT buying any of their products!
I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house.
If you feel the same as I do then pass this along.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more.
Sgt. Howard Wright,Recon troop,45 commando, Royal Marines
PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS... PLEASE PASS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E- MAIL LIST, IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE BEEN WOUNDED, LOST LIMBS AND EVEN DIED, SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE !
Also, don't forget that when the TwinTradeTowers were hit, the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks CHARGED THEM!!!
AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS.
There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK , and there's no doubt that our soldiers would get the same response from this company, so let us do our bit and boycott Starbucks to show them how despicable their actions are.
Can hardly believe I have been a member of this site for a year now.
I have met (online) some pretty incredible people who are on my friends list. So I would like to take this opportunity to say "Thanks", you have made this site fun for me to come back to time and time again.
Also I have become a fan of many many talented people (whether they are musicians, actors, photograhers, painters, models, martial artists); Also "Thanks" for your blogs which are often entertaining, funny, educational, and some times sad.
Also "Thanks" to the AnD site admin; without who we wouldnt have this great site to catch up with each other, and catch up with what our favourite artists are doing.
So I hope the next year on this site is as great as my first year.
Don't you just adore you postie (mailman) sometimes? He brought me 3 very nice little parcels today.
Sure I ordered and paid for them, but when you get them delivered it feels like getting pressies.
As I am a self-confessed "Girly" Girl I adore jewellery. Last week I was watching a Chateau D'Argent programme on QVC(UK) and I saw the most adorable ear-rings to match the Chateau D'Argent ring I bought last year. The items are silver and smoky quartz, with some animal print enamel. Chateau D'Argent jewellery is designed by Canadian David Sigal.
My ring from last year
The ear-rings that arrived today.
As a lover of QVC(uk) I often watch it at midnight to see what the next day's TSV (Today's Special Value) is. This is an item that they will sell lower than the normal price they sell it for.
As per usual I watched the launch of the TSV last Tuesday. The programme was for Murano Gold Jewellery.
Murano Gold Jewellery combines brightly coloured glass that Murano is famed for with 9 Carat gold leaf, which produces unique jewellery of style and quality. They have been making their glass items on Murano since 1291 when the Venetian Republic decreed that all glassmakers should move their foundaries to the Island of Murano as their glassworks were deemed to be a fire hazard in the city. How they make their items is still a closely guarded secret .
Well when I saw the 2 rings, i debated with myself which one i preferred. It was a difficult decision so I said to hell with it and bought both - lol.
This next ring is a favourite of mine that I bought from QVC(uk) a couple of years ago. Its a Epiphany Platium Clad Diamonique solitaire style ring. In the middle it has a brilliant cut diamonique stones and down both shanks of the ring it has 5 smaller brilliant cut diamonique stones.
Epiphany platium clad is done by QVC, its real silver with a bonding of platium over the silver. So it looks and feels like platium. The cladding of the platium is said to be much more that simple electro-plating and it would last for years and years if worn constantly every day. Diamonique is a man-made diamond exclusive to QVC, it looks very real, much more so than cubic zirconia or any other artificial diamond. It does in fact look better than some real diamonds.
Ok lastly about jewellery (as i am sure you are getting sick of it - lol), the ring that my mother bought me for me a few years ago. Its a gold ring with diamonds and midnight blue sapphires. The ring is shaped into a panther head and tail. I love this ring and wear it often.
Now thats the pretty things over with. The next is a couple of videos that caught my eye.
First is by Clash Army and is called "Tur". I first saw this video on Fish Chaar's blog (Thanks Fish ) and I absolutely love it. The video and the song are great!
I should sing "so I'm loving youtube" - as you know i am a real youtube addict. Sometimes i find stuff that is ok but then there is other times that i find stuff thats FANTASTIC !!! (lol well in my opinion it is)
Here is the video - its an advert for Lotte duty free (search me to what that is, lol i have no clue ).
