  • Good bye Tita Miming

    Saturday, Sep 6, 2008 1:32PM / Standard Entry / Members only

Hi, its been a long time since I wrote in my blog. I resigned from my old job because I decided to take care of my tita or aunt who was sickly. Tita Miming is like a mother to me, last August 28, 2008 she died peacefully in her sleep. We were in the hospital the night of Aug 26, 2008 and in the afternoon she asked for a priest -we were able to find 2 who came to the house within 20 minutes of each other and she recieved the extreme unction and also had her confession. In the morning of August 27, 2008 at the hospital i was able to request the hospital chaplain to visit her in her roon and she was given communion, then the next morning at around 5:45 am the midwife who was on duty told me that my tita miming won't wake up. The nurses and doctors were called in, but since she gave specific instructions that she won't anymore be incubated or put on life support system or revived using extra ordinary means - we, the family defered to her wishes. Let me tell you  that it hurt  to tell the doctor that the patient does not wish to be incubated and so only ephinephrine was administered and if her heart responds then well and good and if not as in my aunt's case then I guess it's time to say good bye. They tried to revive her with an ambu bag and series of injections for at least one hour, finally there was no pulse, no bp so the doctor approached me and said that it was really a flat line and I said it's okay, they can stop. It's time to let go and so I say good bye to my dearest aunt. May she rest in Peace and May God bless her soul. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Please say a little prayer for my tita miming. Thank you.
