    Hey everyone

Wow...can't believe I haven't blogged in a few weeks!!! Well, a lot has been happening. Mostly been keeping busy with Amanda and the kids as well as work. Working the afternoon/evening shifts can be quite a handful. I've been working hard on a major project at work involving the periodicals (newspapers, magazines, academic journals) that I've been getting quite some compliments about...and I've only been there nearly 3 months. It will be 3 months on Friday since I started working at the library. I do love Fridays though not only because it's the slow day, but because we close early at 4:00pm. Next week, I'm only working Monday and Tuesday because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. :)

Well, I did experience the major soreness from the car accident back in October. Now, I feel better and after going a few weeks of just getting my head straightened out, I am driving again. Originally, I was supposed to be driving a 1998 Chevy Malibu. Only drove it one day and now, I learned the torques on the motor is beyond messed up. So, for now, no more Malibu. However, this past weekend, a friend of my dad's asked him to fix his 1998 Chevy Cavalier and he had planned to sell it because he was moving. My father bought the car for a good price and now, I am behind the wheel again. The car runs just fine as I got to drive it to work today. :)

Amanda, Jessa, and A.J. are doing fine. Jessa goes through the "Terrible 2's" now and again, but for the most part, she gets all happy and excited. She always asks me or Amanda to pick her up. As for A.J., well, he tends to cause trouble and today, he went potty for the first time in the potty. Amanda sat him down and he had the chills and that was that. Jessa still tries to go now and again. Both love to talk. Jessa says "Dora" and "Barney" a lot as well as sing some of her favorite songs and "pick me up" and "open this" plus a lot more. A.J. learned to say "What you want" and he refers to out neighbor's dog as "The little ruff".

Amanda is planning to begin her degree next year (2009) in paralegal studies. I'm very proud of her that she wants to pursue it. As for me, I'm still writing for KungFuCinema.com and recently returned to Jade Screen. I recently completed the 1st of a series of article about the superkickers of cinema for KungFuCinema.com and did a profile of AnD's very own Daniel Wu for Jade Screen, which will appear in December's issue.

January is going to bring two important events in my life. First, I am relaunching my website, High Impact, after closing it down in December 2007. I hope that it becomes huge as it did in the glory years of 2001 through 2007 by the time I get done with it. And then, it will be my birthday...hitting the big 3-0!!! To be honest, I don't feel 29. I still feel quite youthful and I have Amanda and the kids to thank for that. :)

I hope everyone is doing fine!!! Just so anyone knows, it's pretty cold in Florida lately. Had to wear a sweater and at times, a jacket outside. It's quite insane!!! Well, gotta jet for now. Hope all of you are fine and keep in touch!!! :)

  • Why People Can't Learn to Shut Up!

    Monday, Nov 3, 2008 12:00PM / Standard Entry / Members only

    Hey guys,
First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who were wondering how I was after this past week's car accident. I'm just a little sore in the ribs, but I'm okay.

Well, today, I got a very disturbing phone call. It was from my oldest brother, who decided to rip me a new a**hole because of something that was not his business to begin with. Well, needless to say, I learned my grandma made a slip and accidentally blabbed to my other brother (who I am estranged from because his wife needs to learn to shut up and mind her business) and it got back to my oldest brother. I got so upset that it was out but the fact was it was something personal between Amanda and myself. Even my mother and father were pissed that my oldest bro had the audacity to ream me out for something that wasn't even his business. Well, after taking a walk to blow off some steam, I called my grandmother to tell her that I wasn't mad and she too was pissed about the a**hole rip. Two minutes after I get off the phone with Grandma, my oldest brother called back. He admitted he was way out of line and apologized like five times. He knew it wasn't the other brother's place or my grandma's place to say anything, and knew the other brother was way out of line. So needless to say, I forgave him and he asked how I was from the car accident.

Well, bottom line is...and this is a very good saying for anyone who likes to blab about others after hearing gossip or rumors that can damage people:

Do not witness with your mouth what you don't witness with your eyes!

This is very good advice and is well needed for the other's brothers biotch of a wife, who ever since I got together with my wife, has been causing all sorts of trouble, and being pretty much an attention whore. She really needs to grow up, shut up, and mind her P's and Q's.

Anyway, on to better things...Tomorrow is my 1-year wedding anniversary with Amanda. I can't believe it's been one year already!!! Kind of doesn't feel like it...at all...more like a few months :P Well, hope everyone is okay and Keep In Touch!!!!!

  • Halloween!!!

    Saturday, Nov 1, 2008 12:39PM / Standard Entry / Members only

    Hey everyone,
Well, it's been a hell of a week and today was a hell of a Halloween!!! Work was pretty slow today (being Friday and all). So, I asked Amanda and my mom to bring the kids to my job in their costumes. Jessa was dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and A.J. was Scooby Doo. A few of my co-workers got to meet everyone and they all said I have such an adorable family.

Today was also kind of a sad day, work wise. Someone who I just got to work with a few months ago retired after a whopping 38 years at the library!!! Yesterday, we held his retirement party and it was a blast! So before I left work today, I said my farewell to him. He is definitely going to be missed!!!

Okay, before I go more into Halloween, I do have to tell you all that on Tuesday night, I was in a car accident. I was heading home when I heard this weird sound coming from the back of the car (the 1977 Grand Prix) so I pulled to the side of the road, checked and it looked ok. When I restarted the car, it started to shake so I went to the next exit and tried to call my folks from a local Wal-Mart...forgetting the number doesn't accept collect calls!!! So, I headed back and the noise finally stopped after hitting a teeny bump. Well, I was a block away from getting back on the highway...when I got to a green light and some 18-year old kid in a monster-sized pick up truck sped out of the other side and BAM!!!!

Well, let's just say the entire front is totaled. Some witnesses who were there told the cops that I RAN THE RED LIGHT! I don't know..if you see my car and compare it to his...I think the damage speaks for itself. But I got a citation for "careless driving". Go figure!!!!

Okay...back to Halloween!!! We got home and had dinner. Then we got Jessa and A.J. back in their costumes and we just went around the neighborhood for some trick-or-treating. There weren't that many houses that gave candy this year, but for 1st timers, Jessa and A.J. got a decent amount. Hell, we went to this lady across the street and she not only gave us candy, but actually had baked a cake and she was talking about how nice my parents are and how the kids looked adorable. After an hour, we got home, let the kids have 1 piece of candy and just a little sliver of cake. A.J. went to sleep around 8:30 and Jessa was asleep by 10:30. \\

Here are some pics from the week:

    First....the now damaged Grand Prix

And now, to brighten the mood :) Halloween pics and Kiddie Pics!!!

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!!!!! And those who are wondering, I was NOT injured in the car accident, but I'm going to feel a LOT of soreness tomorrow!!! :D

  • Seasonal Films in the United States 1985-1997

    Hey guys,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!! It's been quite a crazy week for me. I got sick on Wednesday with a bad cold as did Jessa and A.J. I'm feeling much better. A.J. and Jessa are recovering and now Amanda is starting to get what I got. I always tend to get sick this time of the year. It's been crazy. Well, there is something I've been working on as well.

For those who might not know, I write for KungFuCinema.com. I've done star profiles and film reviews. I began reviewing a lot of American B-martial arts films for the site lately and seven of them happen to be all of the U.S. martial arts films made by Hong Kong-based Seasonal Film Corporation. This company was founded by Ng See-Yuen, a former executive at Shaw Brothers. Their first film was LAST ASSOCIATION (1975) but they were put on the map with the classic SECRET RIVALS films with John Liu and Hwang Jang-Lee. They were also responsible for breaking Jackie Chan through with SNAKE IN THE EAGLE'S SHADOW and DRUNKEN MASTER, both released in 1978.

In 1985, Ng decides to crossover to America and with screenwriter Keith W. Strandberg and director Corey Yuen, made NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER, with future soap opera star Kurt McKinney in the lead role and as the villain, a man by the name of Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Here are the links to the Seasonal-U.S. films reviewed by me at Kung Fu Cinema.com
