My grandpa's grandpa, who are you?
You must be very old now. I was born in 1986, so , suppose between each generation there should be 30 years, that is, my father be 30 years older than me, my grandpa be 30 years older than my father, …, my grandpa's grandpa, you must be born in 1866, 120 years earlier than me.
We never met each other. I don't even have a picture of you. But I can guess how did you look like. You must have a long queue on your back. You had to kowtow to the emperor at your time because you were told to be loyal to him. You had to kowtow to your parents too, filial piety was considered a perpetual virtue in your socity. You once attended school? then you must be able to recite some sayings of Confucius or Mencius, you quoted them whenever you felt necessary. You scolded your children frequently, right? You thought you had absolute authority upon them, because "once the father tells the son to die, the son dares not not die" , WHICH was truth in your time.
So, one of your sons, my grandpa's father, left home and went to another province when he was only 12. He went there by himself. He stayed there and afterwards became a local doctor. He married there. He died there. I was born where he died.
My grandpa's grandpa, you are 143-year-old now. YOU ARE AN OLD GUY.
