    Hi Everyone!

Just want to thank all our friends and fans who voted and shown support to 24Herbs during the LinkinPark contest. Unfortunately, we didn't get into the Top Five. It wasn't in the cards and we're cool with that. Hopefully we'll have other events and opportunities to play on a big stage for you guys!

It was a battle, got heated at times and hopefully everyone got out unscathed! Congrates to the top five bands that made it into the final round. U guys rock! Shout-out to all the bands and artists that made the effort to enter the competition. You'll never get anywhere if you don't try.

Big thanks to Alivenotdead for putting it all together, shout-out to AnD crew; honorable mention: Raffi who had a long hard week as liaison for the event. Feel u man! Shout-out to LinkinPark-enjoy your Asian Tour! Once again thanks to all the "24Herbs peeps" and the AnD community that participated and supported this contest and us! 24Herbs is grateful to ya!

Keep y'all updated on the competition we are now at 154 votes. It's turning out to be a healthy competition now. 3 more days left to vote. Thanks to all of u who've given us your support! Those of u who have not voted yet pls go to the link and if you want see 24Herbs...pls vote for artist 24Herbs! Thanks and Bless!

照做 Jiu Jo (means "do it" or "keep at it, do it anyway") was a slept on song, but still became a classic tune and an inspirational song to many listeners. It's strange that there was never an MV for it but that's the way it goes sometimes. How the song came about was GS on the beat, then, while we were all hanging out eating dinner listening to beats, JBS came up with the words "照做 Jiu Jo". Then, Phat and Kit came up with the Cantonese and that was basically the song! In Hong Kong, there are many people always around, complaining, criticizing others and their lives. We address this issue, by saying, "look, stop all the whining and talking, if you don't like something then just go out there and fix it! Just do it!"

    Video:

One highlight was "照做 Jiu Jo" was featured on www.nikeskateboarding.com while the team were in China doin' a tour (last Feb). Mad traffic on that site. In a small and meaningful way this song went out to the people.

On our album we had a remix disc 2. On it was "照做 Jiu Jo" ft. Jin. The story on that was, at 8five2 shop, JBS was listening to the "照做 Jiu Jo" instrumental. Jin heard it and was feelin' it. After JBS told him what the song was about, he was down to feature. So, we got a straight posse cut ft. tha Emcee.

    Video:

Oh, actually we do have an MV for "照做 Jiu Jo". We did a project for Aids Concern. At first, we were playing with the idea to use the original and change the lyrics. But, it became apparent that it wouldn't fit and "照做 Jiu Jo" was such a serious song that couldn't really be touched. So, we made a new track with the title "照做 Jiu Jo". DorYuk on the beat making something club-y smooth for the listeners. Sex is a sensitive topic, but we're glad we at least contributed to the overall Aids awareness-which is really needed. Stay safe people!

The MV was directed by Kim Chan. It also featured a cast of fun-loving AnD girls and DanTran. Check out the cameos! Thanks y'all! The location was the old Star TV Building in Sai Kung. It was crazy there because of the abandoned feeling it had...straight out of a spooky movie. Special shout-out to Aids Concern Crew. Also, very honorable mention to our boy TDog (Terence Yin) who in all of our videos, helps behind the scenes to get things rolling! You the man TDog!

    Video:

Thanks for reading y'all! Whatever u do, when things get tough and get you down, put on this song, keep your head up and "照做 Jiu Jo!"

  • 24Herbs Part 1 "Our First MVs"

    Thursday, Aug 6, 2009 3:17PM / Standard Entry

Hey thx to everyone who's taking part in the Linkin Park Competition by voting. You're helping in growing our music scene! Votes for 24Herbs since yesterday have been climbing, last count was 76. The contest ends in Aug 9th so, keep them coming! Vote for artist 24Herbs:

Since there's a few more days til August 9th, we thought it would be nice to recap our story from the beginning. Well actually lots of things happened at the same time. Our beginnings started around the same time as your favorite blog site...yes Alivenotdead! True to their word on supporting artist, AnD have been with us since day one. In early 2007, our very first two music videos were collaboration and sponsored by AnD (also Audiotraffic and Hardpack had vids too). It was kind of a conceptual thing, where the first one was 'a day in a life' of 24Herbs. Everyone is getting ready to get to the club to perform (Superstar). The second video is us performing at the club (24Herbs). Which not sure if everyone got that concept! haha

    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJHZiECvfhE

The video was directed by Kit Hui and filmed by Kim Chan. It was cool because it made it into a film festival in the States. Superstar is a song going after local media and entertainment people with unwarranted big egos. Seriously, it wasn't about anyone in particular unlike what the internet thought. If Big Ego people felt offended, let's say, "if the shoe fits." So many people in the industry think they're the biggest, but if you really look around, who really is the biggest? Superstar was one of the first songs we written too. It was funny how the hook came up. GS and Drunk were listening to beats in an office and Kim Chan walked in and sang in a high voice "Superstar!" over the strings. Then, we said, yeh, that's a song! Another highlight was Drunk picked a Sam Hui lyric "Teen Choi Yue Bac Chee"--a classic local thing for the intro. Right onto the second MV-24Herbs.

'24Herbs' was directed by Kit Hui and 24Herbs Phat Chan. We were letting out steam on this one! Actually, none of us are angry individuals, most days we're chill, but we can still f*ck sh*t up if need be! The MV was filmed at your favorite pool lounge Racks. A funny story was that day Drunk got styled with a huge pimped-out fur coat. But it was so hot that day and with all the lights he was boiling in it! We wanted to ditch the coat, but couldn't for the sake of 'continuity!'
24Herbs became our theme song with the crowd shouting "Ya Sei, Ya Sei, Ya Sei Mei!!" Oh by the way many a beers and a whiskey bottle were finished that day.

Cool, stay tuned for Part 2. Until then, let's get voting! Thanks y'all and bless!
