DATE CHANGE TOTHURSDAY OCTOBER 29
It's with deep regret and a hacking cough that I announce that the date has been changed to the 29th of October (one week later than originally planned) due to my contraction of swine flu.
Rather than risk infect you all I'm at home recovering and will be fully rested and fully un-contagious within a day or so allowing the launch party to be as much fun as it should be. I would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope very much that you can still make it.
See you all there.

--PRESS RELEASE--
'POP ATTACK!' EXHIBITION GALLERY & MAGAZINE LAUNCH PARTY WITH CHARITY AUCTION M1NT 29th OCTOBER, 2009 8.30pm – 12am. Complimentary cocktails & canapés.
Hong Kong-based illustrator and graphic designer Lun Wong (aka 1KStyles) presents his first solo exhibition – ‘POP ATTACK!’ The opening reception will take place at M1NT on the 29th of October 2009 with complimentary cocktails from Snow Queen Vodka, canapés and a charity auction in aid of the Hong Kong Cancer Fund.
The Exhibition
The ‘Pop Attack’ exhibition is Lun’s modern urban take on the icons that have shaped popular culture. From the glamour and grace of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn to the hard hitting images of Bruce Lee and Michael Jackson, each figure is as instantly recognisable and era-defining as the next. “They transcend the mainstream and the underground,” says Lun. “However cool you are, they set the standards and made it what it is today.”
The nine pieces on display will remain as M1NT’s decor for three months. They have been selected to showcase Wong’s fun, unpretentious and bold street-art style, influenced by his love of cartoons, comic books, manga, martial arts movies and computer games.
About the artist
Born in South-East London, Lun’s passion for drawing began at an early age, and continued through to his formal training at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art and Design and the University of Portsmouth.
His immersion in London’s street-art movement and urban culture gives a raw edge to his striking illustrations, and the graffiti style permeates every image on display at the exhibition. The combination of personal influences and pop culture legends has resulted in a collection of work that is truly captivating. Its ability to merge contemporary street-art, hand drawn sketching, vector-based digital design and the best of the 20th century has created something strikingly 21st century in attitude and appearance.
To date, Wong’s client list has included BBC International, Ed Hardy, Christian Audigier, Kronenbourg 1664, Pacific Coffee and Asia City Publishing. Lun’s work also caught the attention of Travis Barker, the drummer of US punk rock group Blink 182. Barker adopted Wong’s gallery-style portrait for his official Facebook, Twitter and MySpace profiles, after seeing the image in his clothing company Famous Stars and Straps.
Lun’s influences include Futurist artist Umberto Boccioni, comic artists Humberto Ramos and Joe Madureia, manga artists Akira Toriyama, Tatsuyuki Tanaka and Takashi Okazaki, illustrators Gezfry and Hydro 74, and the Ilovedust group.
